Buckley's Double Action Baking Powder

The wonder of double-action baking powder, 50s-style.

Dan and Agnes

Duration: 1:33
Views: 995

Dan and Agnes write:

The film attempts to explain the science behind baking powder using a 1950s commercial format. We filmed it in Agnes’ kitchen and acted it out ourselves.

Nominee: EPSRC Best Film (Adults), SciCast Awards 2009

Utter, utter, utter genius.

The 1950s style is plain ridiculous, and carried off beautifully. Very nicely shot, a good clear explanation, and it doesn’t outstay its welcome — it’s only a minute and a half long! Excellent performances, too, with Agnes’ voice-over of the chemistry delivered particularly well.

A brilliant, brilliant film, and a worthy nominee in the EPSRC Best Film (Adults) category. It’s a sign of the tremendous competition in that category that it didn’t romp away with the trophy.

Educational and very well vintagated!

I think this good the way it is set in the past. Also I like the way it is an advert as well. BY LAURA LEWIS :D

I keep singing to myself - Buckley's double-action baking powder. Trrrring! Light and fluffy? I think it's fabulous.

I love this film too, but as it was clearly made by adults it wasn't held to be eligible for the subject categories. Hence its nomination for the closely-fought 'Best Film (Adults)' Award.

It is much better then "The Chemistry Attack" that won best Chemistry Film.
This film should have been nominated for chemistry category and then it would win :-(
