Floating and Sinking

My battle against one of the least helpful words in science … ‘upthrust’.

Declan was one of the first people to email us when SciCast first started, more than a year ago, and it looks like he’s been somewhat bitten by the filming bug. This is an ambitious and professional film. It’s trying to cover a delicate bit of explanation and wrap the whole thing in a suitably ridiculous story, all in two and a half minutes.

In places it’s a little rushed, but it’d be churlish of me to rude of me to complain that it’s ‘too ambitious’! Besides, I like the film very much. It’s not just science that involves experiments — film-making does too, and Declan’s thrown himself into this and tried something radical.

Does it work? Tell us what you think in the comments.
