Gratnells, the world leaders in science storage, have joined SciCast to support a whole new category:
Gratnells’ Best Film from a Science Technician
All the usual rules apply — your film has to be no longer than two and a half minutes long, all your own work, broadly about a STEM subject, and, most importantly, not boring. There’s more information about the competition here, including the full rules.
The only extra rule for this category is that it’s open to science technicians, of any age or experience, based in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. You’re welcome to rope in help from students or teachers, too, just as long as they’re not professional film-makers.
We’ve a wealth of ideas and recommendations for how to get started over at our Film School. When you’ve made your films, please submit them in the normal way, via this page.
We’re delighted to be joined by Gratnells. Their shelving and storage systems are tremendously popular, they have strong links with technicians and schools throughout the UK and indeed the world, and they bring welcome marketing savvy to the table too.
It’s terrific that they share our ambition of building a huge and world-class resource of entertaining science short films, and of celebrating the tremendous talent and creativity demonstrated by students, scientists, and technicians.
So far, we’ve precious few films that we know are from technicians — which is one of the reasons Gratnells wanted to be involved in the first place. The best so far is likely Combustion and Stoichiometry from Helston School. Drop us a line if you spot any other examples in our ever-expanding archive!
